Smelling chips in the morning

Hanover is home of Utz Potato Chip Co. as well as Snyder's-Lance. Why is this significant? Because on a regular basis I can smell chips frying and pretzels baking. Right now, the lovely scent of frying chips is invading my office.

It's funny but there are other smells that I identify as "Hanover" scents -- the wire cloth (screen) manufacturer and two foundries (making a variety of items) and finally, the blown-in smell of the Glatfelter Paper Mill in Spring Grove (When Hanoverians smell the mill, they know rain is on its way.) This means some days are tastier smelling than others.

I used to hang out my laundry to dry and I had a male friend who asked me why? I said because I liked the smell of the sheets, etc. He looked puzzled. I explained that I loved the "fresh" smell they had. He asked me how anything in Hanover could smell fresh with the competing odors of foundries, paper mills, and chips. I couldn't answer it and still can't, but really items hung out to dry never smelled like chips. But maybe, I should suggest that scent to Febreeze or Glade?
